Ephemeral Nature

Franklin Evans

Process is the subject of my painting/installation practice. Time expands and contracts in the exploration of material and thinking processes. Incorporating into my work such disparate elements as painting, drawing, digital image, sculpture, books and sound, I explode painting into installation space. My intricate, immensely detailed, totalizing installations collapse art and life: the world of the studio confronts documentation of art history and biography.

Memory infiltrates the art objects. My exploration destabilizes space, creating environments that read both as an artist studio and as the inner mind of the artist.
